2006: Responding to Wood

After digging up a stump in my yard, I impulsively started to carve it… and began to work in an entirely new direction. As I scrounge for roots and stumps, I find their shapes fascinating. I allow the wood to guide me as I shape them into fantasy creatures, part human, part animal and completely out of my imagination.
